For someone with lower back pain that works at a desk even part of the day can benefit greatly by shopping around for a choice of appropriate desk chairs. For certain conditions an ergonomic chair would be a very wise decision and could contribute to having better posture and less pain with constant and consistent use.
The basic ergonomic chair is designed to naturally position the person so their feet go back and rest on a foot rest instead of in front of you on the floor. The seat is slightly tilted forward causing you gently to sit straight up naturally and comfortably while giving the back a form of relief not normally achieved in the standard sitting position. Being more comfortable and physically at ease in an ergonomic chair induces a better setting for concentrating and can make a significant difference in productivity.
For other causes of back pain some may find the leather office chair to be more accommodating to their specific back condition. Occasionally a small pillow may be placed in the lower region of the back for more selective lumbar support as needed. Otherwise the overall padding of a leather office chair will be more comfortable for some back conditions. With total comfort difficult to achieve with many back conditions any comfort that is found should be cherished and used as often as possible. If disability is extensive and getting up from desk chairs is painful but required a model with wheels may be an option.
