An office has a lot of equipment but often neglected or ignored is the desk chair . In some ways this could be the most important piece of office equipment. Simply replacing a standard desk chair with a swivel chair can by its self increase productivity by decreasing the number of movements required to move things from one place to another. A step up from the swivel chair would be the executive office chair which adds more features and comfort. The price for an executive chair may be two to three times that of other office chairs but often may pay for themselves in increased employee productivity.

If your employees have uncomfortable chairs then it leads to a need for more breaks. These breaks may only last for minutes but the cost to productivity can be hours by the end of the day. To take a break the worker has to stop what they are doing and usually log out of their computer system and this takes time. Then when they get back from their break it takes them time to log back into their computers, remember where they were at and get back into the mind frame that they were in before the break. This can take several minutes and the time lost on a 15 minute break could be 30 or even 45 minutes. If the chair is more comfortable they may work through the breaks or work longer stretches between breaks keeping the time lost to a minimum.
