I founded my own business in my mid thirties. I had very limited
startup capital, and so I cut corners wherever I could. One of
the ways I saved money was by stocking my minimal office with an
old Swivel Chair I had left over from college. I'm not saying
that a Swivel Chair doesn't make a good Desk Chair, but it
doesn't exactly send the message that the person sitting in it
is the CEO of the company. I was once mistaken for a
receptionist!
When my business began to grow, though, I knew that I needed a
Desk Chair with feeling. One that would let anyone who walked
into my office know that I was in charge, and that my company
was serious business. I went out and purchased the finest
Executive Office Chair that my budget would allow, a hand made
model built by a master craftsman. A massive leather behemoth of
a Desk Chair, it was not only a lot more comfortable than my old
Swivel Chair, it let people know that I was in charge here.
That was twenty years ago, and my chair still projects power
while providing comfort. Swivel Chairs are very nice for the
average office worker, but an Executive Office Chair is a
must-have for every up-and-coming CEO. It just lets one's
employees and customers know who is in charge, and that the
person sitting in it has the power and money to afford such a
nice chair.
