Seating Guide Are you sitting comfortably? Fire Retardancy
FIRA - The Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA) is an internationally recognised body for furniture and seating in the UK. Office Chairs Showroom only selects suppliers who are members of FIRA. As members of FIRA our suppliers are allowed to place their products through stringent product tests, in order to ensure that they meet the appropriate quality standards. Our products have been tested to British, European and International standards and all test and certificates are backed by accreditation from the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS). Each of our product descriptions details the relevant FIRA certification standards as shown below. The level of fire retardancy achieved dictates the environment in which the products can be safely used as detailed below. FIRA TESTED BS 7176 Low Hazard The standard fabric and foam has been tested to BS 7176 Low Hazard. These products are suitable for use in offices, public places and all other environments where Medium Hazard has not been specified. FIRA TESTED BS 7176 Medium Hazard The standard fabric and foam has been tested to BS 7176 Medium Hazard. These products are suitable for use in office, public places and government departments, educational establishments, hospitals, hostels and the home. Dimensions Each product description shown in the seat specification table defines the dimensions according to the diagram below.
Material The colours available from stock for each product are shown on the product pages and our represented by the swatches, we have also stated the fabric or material used for each product. Leather chairs are faced in REAL Leather with the exception of the St.Moritz range which is 100% upholstered in real leather. Recommended Daily Usage The number of hours a day for which a product should be used is detailed in the seating specification table as:

BS EN 1335 (2000) part 2: structurally suitable and sufficiently stable for use as an office chair up to eight hours a day by person up to 110kg in weight Models which have passed this test:Notion, Posture, Concept, B2 and Puma Although certified to 110kg (17st) we guarantee the chairs in his range to 115kg (18st) subject to acceptable levels of wear and tear. BS EN 5459 (2000) part 2: Structurally suitable and sufficiently stable for 24 hours a use, when used by person up to 150 kg in weight. Models which have passed this test are: Pride, Endurance and Vista BS 4875 (2001) part 1: Test Level 4: Structurally suitable and sufficiently stable for general contract use when used by a person upto 110 kg (17st). Models which has passed this test are: Club, Club Canteen, Club Wood and Club Chrome. All other chairs in our range not detailed above are rated to a minimum of 115kg (18st) Component Guarantee All products carry a 2 or 5 year component guarantee as indicated in the seat specification table.
All upholstery is guaranteed for 2 years. Mechanisms
Chair Maintenance To ensure the structural integrity of your chair is maintained for as long as possible we recommend that the following checks are carried out every two to three months: All bolts and hand wheels are checked and tightened if necessary. The adjustability of the chair should be checked to ensure all levers at work and the chair can be easily adjusted to suit the user. The base and casters are often subject to much neglect. It is important they are checked for any signs of wear or tear and replaced when required. |
